‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ – An Update from Josh Hutcherson

Last year was a huge year for Blumhouse Productions, as the video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s became the company’s highest grossing movie of all time. Released in theaters and available for streaming on Peacock on the same day, the Emma Tammi-directed Horror movie made $289 million at the worldwide box office in the final months of 2023.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is of course on the way soon, and though the sequel hasn’t yet officially received a green light, it’s only a matter of time before the animatronics return to the big screen. After all, low budget Horror movies don’t make $289 million and not get sequels!

Speaking with Variety this week, star Josh Hutcherson provides an update.

“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson tells the outlet. “Obviously, the fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was was so cool and phenomenal.”

“We hoped it would connect with audiences,” he continues. “But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in.

“I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”

In last year’s Horror movie, “After accepting a security guard job from Steve (Matthew Lillard; Scream, Scooby Doo), Mike (Josh Hutcherson; The Hunger games Franchise) discovers an abandoned restaurant may actually be haunted by murderous animatronics.”

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a Horror video game series in which you must survive the titular five nights at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza from the dangers of animatronic characters.
