After 6 Years Kingdom Come Deliverance Finally Heads to Nintendo Switch

Huzzah! Kingdom Come Deliverance has been announced to be coming to a new platform this March 15th and it’s the Nintendo Switch. This is a nice surprise as initially, the studio didn’t have plans to bring the medieval RPG to the platform back in 2021. However, it’s 6 years later after the first launch of KCD and finally Switch players can experience the story-driven title on the hybrid handheld. The news was announced during the Nintendo Switch Partner Showcase and there’s plenty to look forward to.

Switch fans will be gaining the Royal Edition which will be available for around $50 USD and contains all previously released content. As this will be a port for the Switch, understandably there might be downgraded graphics compared to other platforms in order to accommodate the Switch’s lighter performance. It’s exact performance details have yet to be released but similar large titles such as The Witcher 3 went through a similar porting experience. But looking at the trailer, it still looks to handle the game well, although a closer look at gameplay will only tell.

KCD comes to Switch with the Royal Edition on March 15th.

Here’s what to look forward to, Kingdom Come Deliverance follows the story of Henry who will rise up after living through a brutal attack on his village caused by King Sigismund‘s army. He decides to join the resistance battalion against Hungary led by Lord Radzig Kobyla during Bohemia 1403, he joins a quest to restore the King Wencelaus back to his rightful position on the throne. Expect tournaments, sword combat and more.

Expanding the Kingdom

Since Kingdom Come Deliverance first launched, it has received a number of updates including numerous DLC expansions. This includes From the Ashes, which involves rebuilding a village from the ground up. It added a village management system where players needed to balance their investments in upgrading buildings, employing local woodcutters and other workers.

Another interesting expansion is A Woman’s Lot which is told from the point of view of Theresa as she survives the attack of Skalitz. The questline runs parallel to the main story, so you can experience the other happenings. Theresa is armed with stealth attacks, archery and will take up a blade to fight foes. She also gains her own sidekick in the form of a dog with the Houndmaster Skill.

Band of Bastards brings a new adventure for Henry as he steps up to help Sir Radzig Kobyla take charge of a a band of mercenaries. Their job is to help settle an ongoing feud between Radzig and a noble family. Of course this adventure has plenty of rivalry, bloodshed and choices to be made. Combat highlights skirmishes and duels plus stealth missions.

While Treasures of the Past will have you hunting down precious loot via maps banished by King Sigismund of Hungary and the mysterious mythical armor of the Warhorse trribe.

If you fancy playing Cupid the DLC The Amorous Adventures of bold Sir Hans Capon might be for you. Lending a hand in the hearts department, you’re tasked with helping Hans conquer the heart of Karolina. Things get a bit complicated involving a lost family jewel, a magic love potion and a romantic poem.

Hardcore Henry

The game also gained a Hardcore Mode which means all new ways to challenge yourself. This features no autosaving, limiting health regeneration options, and no indicators of Waypoints or even Fast Travel. You can also experience lovely Negative Perks such as gaining ailments like Tape Worm and Consumption for a truly medieval experience.

Just recently Warhorse celebrated the game’s 6th anniversary and announced the game has achieved a 6 million milestone of copies sold.

Kingdom Come Deliverance is currently available on Playstation, Xbox and PC. The game will be heading to Switch on March 15th.
