Capcom’s Resident Evil is unquestionably the most popular horror IP of all time, one that has crafted plenty of single-player classics over the decades. Resident Evil 5 can be enjoyed as a traditional solo outing if that is what players want; however, the game was not only designed with co-op in mind but is also a lot more fun alongside another user. Now, RE5 is not exactly a great “couples” game. The campaign requires players to aid each other consistently, while also including periods where they need to do their own thing. The story is a bit of a mess, and someone’s mileage will depend on their tolerance for cheesiness. Still, RE5 can be quite fun in the right mood, and it is certainly a more enjoyable overall experience than its successor, Resident Evil 6, which also supports 2-player co-op.
