ConcernedApe adds some extras to the recent Stardew Valley 1.6 update, putting even more on our to-do list

Farmers rejoice, there’s even more to do in Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update after creator ConcernedApe releases an unexpectedly large patch for the exceptionally good farm game.

Every patch needs an update or two to add stability, but we got way more than that in Stardew Valley’s 1.6.4 update, which addresses bug fixes and game crashes, but also adds a surprising amount of new features.

There are no new Stardew Valley characters, but what we do get in this update, is 20 new mine-level layouts – for the normal mines, and the volcano mines on Ginger Island. That’s 40 new ways to get lost and blow yourself up with a bomb! Speaking of, if you equip a Napalm Ring, it no longer triggers inside your farm and slime hutch.

You can now add non-fish items to fish tanks, you can find fish frenzies, and stop trees from growing moss by applying vinegar to them. Personally, what I’m looking forward to, is the purchasable mini shipping bin from Qi’s gem shop on Ginger Island – though it’s listed as an ‘expensive’ purchase, so wish me luck doing the challenges to get enough gems.

When is the Stardew Valley 1.6 update release date for Switch?

Eric Barone first confirmed the 1.6 update in July 2023, and now states that the 1.6 update is set to arrive on Switch and mobile soon, after a very successful launch on PC. Though the mobile and Switch versions are set to release ‘as soon as possible’ it’s likely that Barone wants to make sure the update is perfect and runs perfectly before submitting it to Nintendo.

While we’re all incredibly eager to get any updates about the Haunted Chocolatier release date, we also can’t deny that ConcernedApe is due a very long and well-earned holiday. So, in the meantime, we recommend these excellent games” rel=”noopener “>indie games on Switch to fill your time.
