One of the best games of the year has found massive success, it seems. As posted on the game’s official X (Twitter) page, Dave the Diver has sold 3 million copies since it launched in June of this year.
That’s a staggering number for a small game, and it isn’t the only award it has picked up. The yearly Steam awards gave Dave and his friends the ‘Sit Back and Relax’ award. It also managed to pick up a nomination for Best Indie Game in the Game Awards. However, that came with some controversy as Dave the Diver is not actually an independent game by any definition owing to it being funded and published by Nexon.

Pushing aside the debate, about Dave the Diver’s status as an independent game, it really is one of the best releases of the year. If you aren’t familiar, you play as the titular Dave, diving in a huge lagoon during the date to capture fish and using them to run a sushi bar at night. But the strange, changing lagoon you dive hides many mysteries in its depths.
Congrats to everyone at Mintrocket. Well deserved.
