Destiny 2: The 5 Best Warlock Builds For Onslaught

Highlights

  • Powerful builds like Vesper Of Radius can help players control crowds in Onslaught gamemode for Destiny 2.
  • For Shadebinders, Osmiomancy Bleak Watcher provides excellent crowd control with Stasis Turrets in Onslaught.
  • Warlocks can utilize Solar Cenotaph with Cenotaph Mask for infinite heavy ammo in Destiny 2’s Onslaught mode.

Onslaught, the latest gamemode to release in Destiny 2, has come with a whole host of powerful weapons. However, farming for them can be challenging at times, especially on Legend difficulty, as by Wave 40, players will be massively under-leveled thanks to some of the modifiers in the activity.

Destiny 2: Characters That Could Die In The Final Shape

The stakes have never been higher than in Destiny 2’s last expansion, The Final Shape and some fan-favorite characters could end up being killed.

This difficulty demands the use of potent builds to succeed. With the reveal of the upcoming Prismatic subclass, many have been focusing on builds for The Final Shape, and not many have looked to design builds specifically for Onslaught; therefore, this article will detail the best Warlock builds players can use in Onslaught.

5 Vesper Of Radius Stormcaller

Constantly Blinding Enemies Makes For Good Crowd Control

Arc Warlock Stormcaller Destiny 2 Subclass Screen

  • Abilities: Chaos Reach, Ball Lightning, Storm Grenade, and Healing Rift
  • Aspects: Arc Soul and Electrostatic Mind
  • Fragments: Spark of Beacons, Resistance, Brilliance, and Amplitude
  • Exotic: Vesper of Radius

When players think about Stormcaller, many drift towards the more standard Arc Fallen Sunstar build that focuses on Ionic Traces, and fail to consider some other options, like Vesper of Radius, despite how powerful these alternatives may be. Vesper is great in Onslaught, as it comes with blinding abilities, which can be invaluable when enemies are closing in on the ADU.

This build also provides a ton of Ionic Traces, which feed back into ability cooldowns. This allows players to constantly engage in a satisfying gameplay loop that focuses on blinding enemies and generating Ionic Traces to spam abilities.

4 Osmiomancy Bleak Watcher

Constant Stasis Turrets Control Waves Of Enemies

  • Abilities: Winter’s Wrath, Penumbral Blast, Coldsnap Grenade, and Healing Rift
  • Aspects: Bleak Watcher and Iceflare Bolts
  • Fragments: Whisper of Torment, Refraction, Durance, and Hedrons
  • Exotic: Osmiomancy Gloves

Osmiomancy Gloves is the standard Exotic choice for many Shadebinder builds, and for good reason, given the amount of crowd control available from this build. Combining the Osmiomancy Gloves with Coldsnap Grenades and the Bleak Watcher Aspect allows Shadebinders to have two Stasis Turrets up on the field at once, doubling the freezing potential of a single Bleak Watcher.

These titles are earned after completing a series of triumphs that are either time-consuming or incredibly difficult for the average player.

Players can also pair this build with a weapon that has the Demolitionist perk to gain even more Grenade energy. This perk grants 10% energy on each weapon kill, making it synergize brilliantly with this Grenade-focused setup.

3 Mindspun Necrotic

Poisonous Damage Clears Enemies Trapped In Mass-Suspension

destiny 2 strand warlock

  • Abilities: Needlestorm, Arcane Needle, Shackle Grenade, and Healing Rift
  • Aspects: Mindspun Invocation and The Wanderer
  • Fragments: Thread of Mind, Warding, Continuity, and Generation
  • Exotic: Necrotic Grip

Broodweaver can be a complicated subclass, as it has a lot going on, and there are many different avenues players can go down in terms of builds. However, the best build for Onslaught definitely involves the use of Mindspun Invocation paired with Necrotic Grip and a poison-based weapon like Thorn or Osteo Striga to suspend waves upon waves of enemies.

Another benefit of this build is that players are able to deal consistent damage over time thanks to the synergy between Weapons of Sorrow (like Thorn and Osteo Striga) and Necrotic Grip, meaning that they can not only suspend waves of enemies, but also deal consistent damage to many targets at once.

2 Sunbracers

Spamming Solar Grenades Has Never Been Stronger

Destiny 2 Sunbracers Exotic Warlock Armor

  • Abilities: Well of Radiance, Solar Grenade, Incinerator Snap, and Phoenix Dive
  • Aspects: Touch of Flame and Heat Rises
  • Fragments: Ember of Empyrean, Ashes, Searing, and Resolve
  • Exotic: Sunbracers

In the past, Solar Warlocks have typically leaned towards using Starfire Protocol builds for most of their exploits. However, since its nerf, many now use Sunbracers instead, as these Exotic gloves provide brilliant add-clear while also being incredibly survivable. Using Ember of Empyrean and Ember of Resolve to both extend Restoration and grant Cure on Grenade kills allows players to stay alive incredibly easily.

Destiny 2: 6 Best Last Wish Weapons To Craft First

The Last Wish raid weapons in Destiny 2 have become craftable, but which ones are worth the investment first?

Given the condensed nature of Onslaught, it is easy to control multiple lanes at once with a few Solar Grenades, causing plenty of ignitions and clearing out enemies with ease. On top of this, Well of Radiance is the strongest Super in the game, making this build even better.

1 Solar Cenotaph

Virtually Infinite Heavy Ammo Makes Add-Clear A Breeze

destiny-2-solar-warlock

  • Abilities: Well of Radiance, Solar/Healing Grenade, Incinerator Snap, and Healing Rift
  • Aspects: Touch of Flame and Icarus Dash
  • Fragments: Ember of Empyrean, Ashes, Searing, and Char
  • Exotic: Cenotaph Mask

This setup barely involves an actual build, and instead hinges upon the raw strength of Cenotaph Mask, and it’s ammo-producing abilities. This Exotic was introduced in Season of the Deep, and synergizes brilliantly with Trace Rifles, in particular Retraced Path with Shoot to Loot and Incandescent. Combining this helmet with this weapon allows the Warlock to grab ammo from a distance.

This build is also one of the few builds that gets better if more than one player uses it. When paired with another Cenotaph Mask Warlock, both Warlocks can generate a ton of Heavy ammo, allowing them to spam shots from high-damage Heavy Weapons like Gjallarhorn without any concerns about ammo reserves.
