Elsie: The Exciting Technicolored Roguelike Unveils a New Trailer

The publisher Playtonic Friends and the developer Knight Shift games are pleased to announce that they will be releasing their exciting technicolor roguelike Elsie. The news was revealed through a dedicated trailer that sets the tone of the game and its immersive atmosphere.

This title, which introduced a new trailer, is a 2D roguelike with a very striking aesthetic. Starring the android Elsie, this game takes place in a futuristic world full of vibrant colors, with levels procedurally generated.

In this game, players will be able to face a wide variety of robots, battling both with Elsie and with a second protagonist specialized in melee combat. The game draws inspiration from bullet hell games and mixes this design philosophy with platformer mechanics.

Additionally, players will have the option to customize the characters by changing their weapons and abilities, making use of the wide variety of options to drastically change the gaming experience.

This will not be the first game to come from Playtonic Friends. The name will be familiar to fans of indie games, as Playtonic was the developer of the popular Yooka-Laylee, a title that broke records with its Kickstarter campaign.

While a sequel to this game is in development, following the spin-off Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, since 2021 Playtonic has focused on distributing independent games under the Playtonic Friends label. Some of the releases distributed by Playtonic were the console version of BPM: Bullets Per Minute in 2021 and the charming Lil Gator Game in 2022.

Elsie does not yet have a concrete release date, but it is expected to arrive at some point in 2024. For now, the game will be available only on PC.
