Assembly Process

Eureka Ergonomic GTG-G47 Desk unassembled

For such a sleek build, this desk is surprisingly heavy. Gamers will definitely have to enlist the help of a friend to lift it. For those who live in an apartment, be careful when taking the stairs. It is quite the workout. After getting the box in, the unpacking process took quite a while, but this was confidence-boosting because every part of this desk arrived in pristine condition. Nothing moved around during shipping, and the tempered glass top was well-protected.

The assembly process was pretty simple once all the pieces were out of the box. A couple of bolts attach to the legs with an Allen key head, which Eureka Ergonomic provided a wrench. That being said, for all the spots besides some of the harder-to-reach places, a driver with an Allen key bit will save users a lot of time and spinning of the wrench. Besides the legs, users can attach the headphone holder, cupholder, monitor arm mounting plate, and cable management tray to the bottom of the desk. All these accessories come with the desk but don’t have to be mounted if users do not want them.

With everything mounted, all that is left is to plug in the motors for both legs, which is very simple, and flip it over. One person can do the job, but again, it would probably be easier and safer if gamers got a friend to help them out with it. It is made of glass and steel, after all. Now, all that is left is to put everything back on and get all the devices cable managed. All in all, the whole assembly process took about 45 minutes, and the amount of sweat and curse words was kept to a reasonable level.

Cable management is not the most straightforward task for all gamers, but the GTG-G47 makes it easy with included cable ties and the surge protector cable tray. Unlike some desks with premounted cable management points, the GTG-G47 has 3M cable ties that can easily be placed wherever users need them most. These ties can hold three or four wider cables, making managing all the power cords needed for a gaming setup easy.

Design

Design elments of the Eureka Ergonomic GTG-G47 Desk

Even before the desk was fully assembled, the GTG-G47 looked absolutely stunning, and it just got even better when it was fully built. The tempered glass top with RGB lighting looks and feels terrific even when the RGB lighting is turned off. As someone who doesn’t typically care for RGB lighting, Eureka Ergonomic did a fantastic job with this implementation. It adds a nice ambient glow to the desk without being overpowering or distracting.

While the tempered glass does look amazing, it does mean that if gamers want to use this desk without a mouse pad, they will have to get a mouse that works on glass surfaces. Mice like the Razer Viper V2 would work well for gamers, and for those who want more ergonomic support, the Logitech MX Master 3S is an excellent option. During the testing period, Game Rant did end up using a desk pad most of the time, but even with the desk pad, the RGB lighting added a lovely accent all around.

As someone who shares office space and doesn’t have a ton of room, the 47-inch width is an ideal size, with enough space to fit everything but not take up too much space. Coming from a desk with drawers, there was a little bit of concern about where everything would go, but everything found its home on the GTG-G47 quite nicely — especially thanks to the headphone rack and cupholder accessories.

The only gripe Game Rant has about the design is the protective covers for the feet. This is the only plastic on the desk, and they feel pretty flimsy. However, it makes sense for them to be made out of plastic because they are there to soften the blow of any stubbed toes. It would be nice to see a more secure mounting method than a pressure fit.

Ergonomics

Of course, one of the stand-out features of the GTG-G47 is the adjustable height. Whether users are just looking for a secondary option to sit at their desk while they game or work from home, being able to stand not only has a ton of health benefits but can also help users remain more focused.

The GTG-G47 is not the only desk with automatic height adjustment, but it is easily one of the best. The motors on this desk are not overly loud and move quickly, especially between the two customizable preset positions. These positions can easily be set by putting the desk at the desired height and pressing and holding either of the preset buttons for a couple of seconds. Even though the Eureka app is super straightforward, setting custom functions physically will always be so much easier, so it is nice to see Eureka do that here.

With a max height of 48 inches and a minimum height of 29 inches, most gamers can easily find two positions that suit them best, whether for sitting or standing use.

Features

Features of the Eureka Ergonomic GTG-G47 Desk

The GTG-G47 is jam-packed with features that will easily delight any gamer. As someone who loves to use different kinds of headphones depending on the task, the headphone rack accessory is a godsend. Depending on the headphones, users can easily fit three to four pairs on this rack; however, they work best with just two. The rack is a nice wide piece of metal that will not dent any cushioned headbands, and it spins to make accessing either side very straightforward.

At the start of the review, the cupholder seemed like one of those accessories that was just kind of thrown in to complete the look, but after a couple of days, it won me over. Whether a smaller can or a big quart container, this cupholder comfortably held all my beverages over the week, allowing all the desk space to remain clear for PC peripherals. Like the headphone rack, the cupholder also spins to be tucked away when not used.

The accessory stand is perfect for holding controllers and other smaller peripherals. While it is intended primarily for controllers, it also makes a great keyboard display. It can hold many different accessories, but gamers can easily make it work for whatever they want. It is pretty sturdy, so there is no concern about it tipping over.

The fourth accessory that comes with the GTG-G47 will probably not be used by everyone, but it is super nice that Eureka Ergonomic included it. It is a monitor arm mounting plate on the desk’s backside. This means that users with desks against the wall will poke out five or six inches instead of being flush. It would be nice for users in smaller spaces to mount an arm underneath, like the headphone rack and cupholder, but it is not too big of a problem.

Software

Eureka Ergonomic GTG-G47 Desk app

The apps that come with most powered desks today run the gamut from easy-to-use to overblown bloatware that is a pain every time it is opened. Thankfully, Eureka’s app is an absolute joy to use, with just enough controls to customize the RGB lighting to the user’s liking and not much more. In the app, users can change the color scheme of the lighting by either choosing a theme or going through a color palette to create their own theme.

This is super straightforward to accomplish and can quickly improve the desk’s appearance to match the surrounding environment. There is also a mode to have the lights react to music or sound, which only works for speaker users, but it does create some cool-looking lighting.

Is The Eureka Ergonomic GTG-47 Worth It?

After spending the week with the Eureka Ergonomic GTG-G47, Game Rant can easily recommend this desk to any gamer looking for a new standing desk. The outstanding build quality, reasonably simple assembly process, and functional accessories make this desk a complete winner. At the time of writing, this desk is on sale for under $700, which makes this an even better deal.

Of course, not every gamer needs something as fancy as the GTG-G47, so the GTG-I43 from Eureka might be a better choice for gamers who want a simplified version of this desk.
