Bethesda’s long-awaited Next-Gen Update for Fallout 4 went live yesterday, adding free Creation Club content for all players and native 4K support for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. However, there were several issues, like PlayStation Plus subscribers not getting the update for free. Game Pass subscribers don’t have this issue, of course.
After some confusion, Bethesda confirmed that the next-gen update is available for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers. However, it doesn’t have “any information” for those who claimed the title via the PS5 Catalogue (likely referring to the now-defunct PlayStation Plus Collection) or PlayStation Plus Essential (the lowest tier for the subscription service).
It’s not the first time publishers have prevented next-gen upgrades for their titles on PlayStation Plus. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake owners on PS4 could upgrade to Intergrade on PS5 for free, but not if they claimed the former for free through PS Plus Essential. Stay tuned for more details on whether this changes for Fallout 4 down the line.
Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update will be available for PS+ Extra members. We do not have any information regarding PS5 Catalogue or PS+ Essentials.
