Hades 2: How To Get Pearl

In Hades 2 Melinoë can acquire a variety of Reagents that are used to advance the game’s various progression systems. Some of these items, like the Pearl, require getting pretty far into the depths that lead to the Underworld – and the Pearl requires Melinoë to defeat a boss.

Pearls, like other Reagents, are used for a variety of upgrades and enhancements. This guide explains how to get Pearl in Hades 2, and what to do with one once you have acquired it – despite being relatively hard to get, it’s one of the most important materials in Hades 2 for unlocking Arcana and Weapon Aspects.

The Pearl is one of many materials that Melinoë can use in Incantations and to unlock new features, namely new Arcana cards and Weapon Aspects.

The Arcana card The Messenger requires 20 Ashes and one Pearl to unlock, for example (though it can’t be activated unless three Cards with the same Grasp cost are activated).

In Incantations, the Pearl is used for Incantations like Abyssal Insight, which unlocks the Chaos Trials system, which itself is used in the familiar and Arcana systems. Abyssal Insight requires one Pearl.

Pearls can be used to unlock two weapon aspects, too: the Aspect of Momus for the Witch’s Staff and the Aspect of Charon for the Moonstone Axe. The Aspect of Momus requires just one Pearl, while the Aspect of Charon requires five.

Hades 2 How To Get Pearl Scylla Defeat

The only way to get the Pearl material in Hades 2 is to beat the final boss – or, rather, bosses – of the Oceanus area. This is the second zone of the game, following Erebus, and follows a nautical theme complete with a three-way boss fight with Scylla and the Sirens.

Without spoiling too much about this boss fight, the best way to approach it is to take out the Drummer first, then the Singer, then the Guitarist. They will all become active again at the mid-point on the shared HP bar, but as long as you take out the Drummer first, the other two are much more manageable.

After defeating the final Siren, a Pearl will drop right in front of Melinoë. Just like the Cinder that drops after beating Hecate at the end of Erebus, you can only get one of these per run, as you can only defeat the Sirens once each run.

This means you will have to do a minimum of eight runs that get past Oceanus, beating the Sirens eight times, to have enough to unlock everything that Pearls are needed for.
