Helldivers 2 Sold 3 Million Copies

Helldivers 2 the third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment, has reached 3 million copies sold.

Helldivers 2 is Already a Top Seller

Helldivers 2 officially debuted on February 8 for PC and PlayStation 5. At that time, few imagined it would become one of the most successful releases of 2024 and in recent years overall. Despite being nearly a month old now, it continues to maintain a strong sales pace and recently surpassed a new record.

Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead and creative director of Helldivers 2, hinted at this new milestone in response to a fan on Twitter, suggesting that they have already sold around 3 million copies, and this also implies that the figure could possibly be even higher.

If You Don’t Have Money, Get it Later

This is not the first time a tweet from the CEO has caused an uproar on social media. A few days ago, when many players were complaining about numerous connection problems, Johan Pilestedt suggested to another fan not to buy the game, saying, “If you don’t have money, get it later. While we created a really fun game, it’s worth waiting until the servers can handle the capacity,” emphasized the creative director.

In that tweet, he also explained the reasons why he advised not to purchase Helldivers 2 until the game is “as profitable as possible.” as you can see below.

Despite all these issues, the Arrowhead Game Studios team continued working and resolving many problems. As a result, this weekend produced incredible numbers. Johan confirmed that they increased the server limit to 800,000 concurrent users. “I am very happy and proud of the team for an incredible achievement. The servers handled all Helldivers 2 players this weekend without issues. Now, we have time to focus on title improvements and resume our original plan. Many exciting things are coming.”

Certainly, the sci-fi game is one of the most popular releases in recent months, with a good sales streak and active players, but it still far behind of the Palworld record with 15 millions copies sold only on Steam.
