Lewis Hamilton already projecting to 2025 with Ferrari: “I want to win the eighth title or at least fight for it”

Despite the separation that will occur at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton continues to show great love and appreciation for the team that allowed him to become the most successful driver of all time in Formula 1, alongside Michael Schumacher.

However, the Briton had certainly hoped for a much better final year in terms of results, with the Brackley team, after six GPs and two sprints, only in fourth place in the constructors’ championship and light years away from the performances of Red Bull, Ferrari, and even McLaren, coming off a fantastic win in the Miami Grand Prix with Lando Norris.

Interviewed by CBS on the eve of the weekend in Florida, the seven-time world champion analyzed the dismal start to his last season at Mercedes: “It’s probably the most painful part right now. I think everyone in the team wants it to be a fantastic year. Everyone has worked hard in the factory, like never before. For me, this journey has been extremely exciting. I have so much love for this team.” – the British driver admitted.

“I’m not leaving because I’m unhappy or because of relationship issues. Mercedes has supported me since I was 13 years old. I love the brand, I love the people. The people I’ve seen in this team have been with me through thick and thin. So it’s definitely a strange transition at the moment.” – he pointed out.

Finally, the British driver explained more deeply the reasons that led him to say goodbye to Mercedes after 11 years: “We exist to win. When you’re not winning, the perspective has to change, and then it’s all about chasing and improving. But it’s not just about chasing, it’s about improving. I’ve really enjoyed this experience. But after three years I told myself, ‘Enough is enough, let’s reclaim what’s ours’.”

And on his plans for post-career, Lewis Hamilton wanted to fire up the fans: “I’m not thinking about it right now because I want to win the eighth title, or at least fight for that goal.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion concluded.
