Nintendo has nominated 4 people to join board of directors

Nintendo‘s recent financial results briefing ended up being a lot more busy than expected. In the midst of the confirmations of a June Direct, as well as sales data and Nintendo beginning to open up about their next generation console, there’s something else that the company has decided to do.

You see, according to the company’s financial report, Nintendo is interested in expanding their board of directors. At the moment, Nintendo’s board of directors are a group of 10 people that include Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, Shigeru Miyamoto, Shinya Takahashi and even Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri.

However, Nintendo has officially nominated 4 more people to join the board, though the nominees must be approved to join first. If so, the new members can join next month, on June 27th. Out of the 4 people nominated, 3 of them are women. The nominees are Yusuke Beppu, Miyoko Demay, Eiko Osawa and Keiko Akashi. Beppu is currently a Senior Executive Officer at Nintendo along with Yoshiaki Koizumi and Hirokazu Shinshi. If the nomination is approved, Beppu would be promoted to a Corporate Director.

Meanwhile, Demay, Osawa and Akashi would become Outside Directors. In Osawa and Akashi’s case, the 2 of them would become Audit and Supervisory Committee Members, which is the same role as Katsuhiro Umeyama, Masao Yamazaki and Asa Shinkawa. It is worth noting, however, that Yamazaki has been nominated for retirement from the board in this same financial report, so Yamazaki will more than likely not be on the board for much longer. The Corporate Director is currently Takuya Yoshimura.
