I was at Signal Hill in 2016 on my way to do some tarantula hunting. The surrounding weather was rain, with thunder and lightning. This created such an amazing backdrop. Even though it was nearing dusk, it was easy to find the petroglyphs and they did not disappoint. I didn’t see any wildlife, besides scorpions, but you could definitely hear them. It was at this point that I realized how much I love the desert.

Signal Hill provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation and exploration. Hiking trails wind through the rugged terrain, offering panoramic views of the surrounding desert landscape. The Signal Hill Trail, in particular, leads visitors to the petroglyph site while providing insights into the area’s geology and natural history.

Rock climbing enthusiasts can test their skills on the hill’s rocky outcrops, with routes suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers. Picnic areas near the trailheads allow visitors to relax and enjoy a meal amid stunning desert scenery.

Saguaro National Park, including Signal Hill, is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of its natural and cultural resources. Park rangers and staff work tirelessly to protect the park’s fragile ecosystems, educate visitors about its importance, and promote responsible outdoor recreation.
