Splatoon 3 announced its next Splatfest will begin on Friday, May 17. The family-friendly shooter franchise is known for its weekend-long Splatfest events, which pits teams of players against each other based on their answers to unique questions. Splatoon 3 will soon divide its community based on this month’s prompt: “What would you do at the world’s end?”

Despite having been released in 2022, Nintendo has kept one of its premiere multiplayer titles fresh with continuous content updates. Earlier this year saw the release of the much-anticipated Side Order DLC, the second wave of Splatoon 3‘s expansion pass. Not to mention, developers have been kept busy with various Splatoon 3 updates and monthly Splatfests.

Here’s an in-depth guide to Splatoon 3 for the Nintendo Switch, including tips for weapons, gear, collectibles, and more.

Splatoon 3 announced on social media that the upcoming Splatfest will begin at 5 pm PT on Friday, May 17. The event will run through the weekend until Sunday, May 19, concluding at 5 pm PT. This month’s prompt, “What would you do at the world’s end?” will divide players based on their answers. The choices are “same ol’,” “bucket list,” or “save the day.” The answer players choose will dictate their team, and the team that amasses the most points through online victories during the weekend will win and be able to claim an in-game prize.

Splatoon 3’s May Splatfest Details

  • Splatfest runs from Friday, May 17 at 5 pm PT to Sunday, May 19 at 5 pm PT
  • Players will be divided into three teams based on their answer to “What would you do at the world’s end?” with the answers being “same ol’,” “bucket list,” and “save the day”

Fans are having fun in the comments with the prompt, which is notably darker than Splatoon 3‘s March 2023 Splatfest, which asked players what instrument they wanted to play. Either way, the shooter’s 16th Splatfest looks to be a fun one, following Splatoon 3‘s sizable 7.2.0 update.

The release of Splatoon 3‘s Side Order DLC has been a highlight in an otherwise relatively slow year for Nintendo thus far. The Big N presumably looks to get ready for the release of its Nintendo Switch successor, but as fans await an official announcement, rumors have continued to dominate the headlines.

The latest notable Switch 2 rumor points to improved battery life, albeit at the expense of power in handheld mode. These rumors also claim that the upcoming hardware will be backward compatible with current Switch games. Again, these are still rumors, so they should be treated as speculation until Nintendo finally unveils the highly-anticipated follow-up to one of its best-selling products.
