The Fallout TV Show Nuked Nexus Mods

The Fallout TV show on Amazon Prime Video has caused a major resurgence in people playing the games. Fallout 3, 4, New Vegas, 76 and even Shelter have all seen four-digit average player increases and three-digit percentage increases in their active player bases since the show launched in early April.

Just follow the old rule of thumb.

But, while the increase in players is likely to be making Bethesda and Microsoft happy bunnies, modding website Nexus Mods was overloaded due to the influx, causing regular crashes to the popular site.

So, What Happened To Nexus Mods?

Over the weekend, games-resurgence/” rel=”noopener noreferrer” target=”_blank”>TheGamer reported that the popular website was crashing regularly, with the following message popping up for anybody trying to access it:

We are experiencing much more traffic than usual due to the popularity of the Fallout TV series. We have deployed extra resources where possible and we are monitoring the uptime and performance across the network. We have staff on call at all times to deal with any problems.

The five most popular Fallout games have seen an average increase of 7,300 daily users, with Fallout 4 benefitting the most from the release of the show, at an increase of almost 20k extra players each day. Taking this into account, it’s no surprise that strain has been put on Nexus Mods, with Fallout one of the most moddable series in video games.

Fallout TV show is packed full of Easter eggs but this one gives homage to Bethesda’s first Fallout game.

Unsurprisingly, the modding community within the Fallout Franchise is huge. The series takes three top 10 and two top five spots in Nexus Mods’ most popular games listings, with over 2 billion downloads across Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas’ 90k available mods. Many of the most popular downloads include new texture packs, perks, quests, weapons and character changes.

Fallout London Is The Next Major Mod

While many of the most popular mods for the mainline Fallout games are bite-sized supplementary additions to the games, Team FOLON is still hard at work on the DLC-sized Fallout: London, despite recently delaying it indefinitely due to an upcoming Fallout 4 Update.

The mod, set in 2237 London, between the first two Fallout games, contains 15 different Boroughs in a map the size of Fallout 4’s base game, with each feeling “very different to the last” and seven different factions. The project has been a full-time undertaking for multiple developers who, as a team, are toying with the possibility of creating a standalone game as their next project.
