Top 10 Werewolf-Themed Music Videos! –

Werewolf

Around here, we’re huge fans of anything related to werewolves and thought it would be cool to give you guys a top 10 list of werewolf-themed music videos. There will be some videos you might expect and some you don’t, but the one thing these all have in common will be cool wolfmen.

This list isn’t about the songs, there are a lot of songs about werewolves, which is for another top ten list. This is about the video itself. What I’m looking for is how cool the werewolf looks. Is there blood and gore and so on? That will be how I’m rating these videos. Not many music videos feature werewolves in them and in my opinion, these are the best of the lot. Enjoy!

If you find that we’ve missed one or more, by all means, please let us know in the comment section.

10. Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London (1978)

We all know the song. It’s one of the best werewolf tunes out there. The song title was based on Universal’s classic Werewolf Of London 1935 film. Zevon himself described his song as a novelty song. It became a big hit for the singer/songwriter.

The video doesn’t have much of a werewolf in it. It features a well-dressed man with a cape and cane galavanting around London causing trouble. The man has only a little bit of facial hair to make him look like a werewolf, but with the cape and cane, he could be more of a Mr. Hyde figure than a werewolf. It barely makes it on the list because it’s one of the first appearances of a werewolf in a music video.

9. Lil Uzi Vert (Feat. Bring Me The Horizon) – Werewolf (2023)

This song by rapper Lil Uzi Vert is a mixture of rap and metal. The visualizer video features an all-CGI werewolf that’s not bad. It is a decent-looking werewolf which is why it just made it onto this list.

8. The Phibes – Wolf Boy (2006)

Not too much is known about this Tasmanian rock band, but they do have a really cool animated werewolf music video. It has a great werewolf, blood & gore, and some sex. What more can you want?

7. Michael Jackson – Thriller (1982)

Yes, it’s one of the greatest songs with one of the greatest videos ever made. But it also has one of the coolest werewolf/werepuma creatures ever made for a video by one of the best, if not THE best makeup FX artists ever, Rick Baker. I love the video, but let’s face it, it’s not a wolf. It’s still great enough to make this list. It is touted as the greatest music video of all time which I would agree. It’s also directed by John Landis (An American Werewolf In London, Animal House, Blues Brothers).

6. Bullet For My Valentine – Waking The Demon (2017)

UK metalcore group Bullet For My Valentine released a pretty neat video for their track, “Waking The Demon”. The video tells the story of a high school kid being relentlessly bullied in school. He keeps taking it and biding his time until the full moon when he lures the bully out to the woods where he transforms into a werewolf and kills the head bully.

The werewolf makeup is a combination of CGI and physical effects. Although, the beast itself is not too made up. It is just a fake nose, long ears & teeth, and some extra hair on the sides. It’s not the best werewolf I’ve seen, but the video is good in itself.

5. Motionless In White – Werewolf (2022)

American metalcore band Motionless In White has the most recent video on this list with “Werewolf”. It also looks to have the biggest budget of the bunch. It is a very slick video and is well-produced. I have to say it’s a great-looking video and the werewolves are very cool. Again, this one is a mixture of CGI and practical effects, and the end result werewolf is incredibly cool. There is no blood, but that’s ok.

4. Ozzy Osbourne – Bark At The Moon (1983)

Ozzy’s Bark At The Moon is just a classic werewolf video. When one thinks about werewolf music videos, Bark At The Moon is usually the first one that comes to mind for most people. Ozzy’s creature makeup is glorious for the video. It was created by effects wiz Greg Cannom (Bram Stoker’s Dracula). It’s not too scary looking but cool just the same. If not for the passage of time and revolutions in makeup effects and CGI, Bark At The Moon would most certainly be number one on my list, but still comes in at a respectable number four.

3. Ghosted ft. Kamille – Get Some (2017)

American rock band Ghosted released a great werewolf video back in 2017. The story tells a coming-of-age/ugly duckling tale of a horny teenage girl that gets her guy in the end, literally. The werewolf effects in this are impressive. Practical effects are used for the creature and they are great. There is also plenty of gore with some nice werewolf attacks. This is a very cool video to check out.

2. Falling In Reverse – Popular Monster (2020)

Popular American hard rock band Falling In Reverse released one of the best werewolf videos on this list. This video depicts frontman Ronnie Radke wolfing out and shredding his attackers. The actual wolf is a mix of CGI and practical effects yet again. This werewolf design is film-ready because it is a vicious-looking design. The werewolf suit used in the video is by effects person Chris Marchwinski. I would’ve loved to see this werewolf design used in a longer format such as a film. Incredible. The only flaw for me is that the werewolf isn’t seen long enough. There is a good deal of blood and carnage for the short amount of time we see the monster though.

  1. The Black Dahlia Murder – Moonlight Equilibrium (2011)

These guys are a Michigan-based melodic death metal band. They have quite a large following in metal circles. Anyways, back in 2011 they released an album called Ritual. On that album was a good track called “Moonlight Equilibrium” about a werewolf. When it was released as a single, the band made a super impressive Victorian-era period Horror movie video about a rampaging werewolf.

The video tells of a house butler being verbally abused by the Aristocracy of the house. The butler takes his frustrations out on the house guests during a full moon when he transforms into a werewolf and munches on them. The video is extremely entertaining because it is so atmospheric and cinematic. I just love the way the video looks. The colors are dark and muted, there is fog lying along the ground and in the air, giving an ominous look to the scene.

I’ll have to admit, the werewolf makeup is not the best of the videos on this list, but it is really good practical makeup. What makes this video number one on the list for me is a combination of atmosphere, makeup, plenty of blood & gore, and sexual situations. There is an uncensored version of “Moonlight Equilibrium” that I’ve added here and it’s the only way to watch the video. Check it out.

Let me know if you agree, disagree, would rate videos higher or lower, or something I missed entirely. I want to hear about it.
