Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Leak Reveals PvP Details

An official artbook for the upcoming third-person shooter Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has leaked online, and it includes a significant amount of information on as-of-yet unannounced features in the game, including a full-on PvP mode. Though this information may not come directly from the developer itself, many Warhammer 40K fans seem thrilled to finally have additional details about this much-anticipated title.

Announced for next-gen consoles and PC at The Game Awards 2021, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is a direct follow-up to the 2011 cult-classic from Company of Heroes developer Relic Entertainment. The sequel, which is being helmed by Saber Interactive, intends to build upon the foundations of its predecessor by adding features like a three-player co-op campaign mode and going all-out on making epic battle sequences using special tech from titles like World War Z. Though the developers have shared a decent amount of information on the game since its initial reveal, fans haven’t gotten any updates on it since its release date announcement in December 2023. A recent leak, however, gives a clearer picture of what those excited about the game can expect from the upcoming Action title.

As covered in a post by u/IcePopsicleDragon on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, a YouTuber by the name of prdalien0 has uploaded footage showing off the entirety of the artbook from Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2‘s games/”>impressive collector’s edition. The leak reveals a number of things about the game, most notably that it will apparently include a “Marine x Marine only” PvP mode. It seems that those who play this mode will have the ability to customize their banners and clans, but details were not given as to how.

PvP aside, though, the artbook also reveals that mission selection and character upgrade features will be handled within a hub-like area of sorts that players will revisit after completing each section of the game. In addition, artwork of the many bosses, enemies, and levels in Space Marine 2 has unsurprisingly leaked as well, with multiple types of dangerous Chaos Space Marines and Tyrandis being prominent throughout. The artbook even features a whole slew of vehicles, weapons, and other interactive objects, like knives and boltguns, that players will make use of throughout the game.

The Inclusion of a PvP Mode In Space Marine 2 Will Be Exciting News for Many Fans

It’s unfortunate that so much important information on Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has leaked this far ahead of the game’s release. As such, it’s probably best that those who want to go into this title completely blind avoid looking through the footage of the artbook online. Regardless of the spoilers, though, the inclusion of a PvP mode is likely to excite gamers that plan to give this Gears of War-inspired third-person-shooter a shot when it releases on September 9, 2024.
