The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s release marked another stellar achievement for Japanese gaming giant Nintendo. The return of old abilities and the addition of fresh ones, especially Ultrahand and Fuse, have enhanced gameplay in many new ways. They allow players to create as many transportation and weapon combinations as they can dream up, allowing their imagination to run wild while exploring the massive world of Hyrule.

16 Shield Bomb

Material Fuse Damage: 1 (explosion deals substantial damage)

This option gives new meaning to the idiom, “The best offense is a good defense.” With the help of this fusion in Tears of the Kingdom, players can take down enemies very quickly. Not only does the defense protect them, but it deals solid damage as well. Once Link fuses a Bomb Barrel onto his shield, it will explode when a foe hits it and will at the very least throw the enemy backward.

This fusion uses up one Bomb Barrel per hit. It’s a great way for Link to use items lying around in the environment to his advantage, especially since these barrels can’t be carried in the inventory and must be directly fused. While any kind of shield will do, it’s best to pick one with great durability and defense on the off chance that players might find themselves without Bomb Barrels.

15 Freeze Spear

Material Fuse Damage: Undisclosed (ice damage upon impact)

A powerful choice, this fusion allows players to immobilize enemies on hit. They can create it by melting down big icicles into small fusible forms. By attaching them to a long-ranged weapon, ideally a spear, they can keep a safe distance and freeze foes, causing ice damage.

Players can use this elemental combination to get some breathing space when they are outnumbered, though it’s more suitable for taking on a lesser number of enemies. Picking a higher-damage option such as a Royal Halberd or a Royal Guard’s Spear is recommended for additional benefit. Gamers can also go the safer route and freeze opponents first, change weapons for another elemental damage pick like fire or thunder, and make short work of any enemies they encounter in Tears of the Kingdom.

14 Bomb Flower Arrows

By fusing them onto arrows, gamers can fire special variants from a safe distance and cause massive damage, even pushing enemies off cliffs.

Since these can be used quite early in the game, players can create stockpile Bomb Flowers in Link’s inventory and use them every chance they get. These are especially useful when clearing out hordes of low-ranked enemies or dealing significant damage in boss fights. Using these with a higher-level bow like the Great Eagle Bow or Royal Bow adds extra benefit.

13 Muddle Bud Arrows

Muddle Bud Arrows are a great combination that is viable for early as well as late phases in Tears of the Kingdom. Since this item causes a powerful odor that can disorient foes, it comes in handy when dealing with a group of them. Muddle Buds can be found exclusively in the depths, or purchased from barginer statues using Poes.

The Muddle Bud confuses enemies and will prompt them to attack each other, providing Link with plenty of time to escape or have stronger enemies whittle down the weaker crowd. This fusion can come in clutch since there are many locations around Hyrule’s landscape where gamers are ambushed by a horde of enemies.

12 Homing Arrows

Material Fuse Damage: 4 (Aerocuda Eyeball)

This ranged fusion allows players to deal a lot of damage to fast-moving enemies. It is crucial in fights that need quick reflexes or for those who can have a rough time aiming on the Nintendo Switch. They can create these special arrows by fusing arrows withKeese Eyeballs, Aerocuda Eyeballs, or Ocotorok Eyeballs.

Simply put, these variants home in on the target and strike hard, allowing players some leniency with their aim. They’re perfect for flying enemies or bosses like Gleeoks and Flux Constructs. Although the fusion helps them strike true, it is not recommended for group fights as there is a chance it may target the undesired enemy.

11 Spiked Iron Ball Hammer

The Spiked Iron Ball Hammer is quite crucial in Tears of the Kingdom, as it helps make quick work of those frustrating armored enemies. It does 29 blunt damage, 14 from the Royal Claymore and 15 from the Spiked Iron Ball. While the damage it does is decent enough – especially in early-game – its primary importance comes with its ability to take down enemy armor, exposing them to other melee attacks.

When in a pinch and without the Spiked Iron Ball, players can create a makeshift hammer by fusing the best sword they have to the rocks littered across Hyrule. Any heavy, hammer-like weapon can be used to break armor or easily smash ore deposits. However, Spiked Iron Balls can usually be found in Bokoblin forts and camps, often in some sort of trap designed to squish Link, so players can make note of where these camps are and teleport to them for a quick fuse.

10 Dinraal Hammer

Material Fuse Damage: 16

• Two-Handed Weapon + Shard of Dinraal’s Spike

Dragons are a massive part of this game, and with several flying around Hyrule at any time, it won’t take long for players to realize they can humanely harvest parts of these mythical beasts. Overall, dragon materials are among the rarest and most valuable monster parts, but ultimately they’re most useful in weapon form.

Dragon shards can be found on the backs of all dragons, and there are usually multiple ready for Link to take. This means landing on a dragon can provide several shards, which can be attached to any weapon for added damage and an elemental power. Dinraal’s Hammer is a great choice since fire damage is strong against ice enemies and can set fire to grass for a quick escape, but the shard from any dragon will make an epic weapon for Link to wield.

9 Gleeok Horn Spear

Material Fuse Damage: 30

Any players looking for a high-damage weapon that’s also elemental need not look further than a Gleeok horn. There are three different kinds: Flame, Frost, and Thunder – each one as formidable as the last. These nasty horns generally have a fuse damage of 30 – one of the highest around – and once paired with a Royal Guard claymore/spear or legendary weapon, players will be unstoppable.

The biggest challenge with this fuse material will be obtaining it. Although there is a chance to win it from the Lucky Treasure Shop in Lurelin Village, players’ best bet is to take down a Gleeok. Depending on which one gamers plan to battle, the best course of Action is to upgrade the respective armor via a Great Fairy. Either flame-resistant, frost-resistant, or lightning-resistant armor should be worn, as well as a few meals that will boost defense. Stocking up on eyeballs and arrows will also be integral to the fight.

8 Silver Boko Reaper

Material Fuse Damage: 31

• Gloom Sword + Silver Bokoblin Horn

It’s easily one of the most available materials in the game when it comes to making high-damage weapons.

7 Silver Horriblin Pounder

Material Fuse Damage: 32

• One-Handed Weapon + Silver Horriblin Horn

Most Tears of the Kingdom players will know by now that enemies scale in difficulty based on their color, and the more red and blue enemies Link kills, the more black and silver ones will show up. This might not pose much of a threat to Breath of the Wild veterans who have taken down countless Moblins and Bokoblins – but this whole new enemy poses a pretty big danger.

Being unexpectedly struck by a silver Horriblin is no joke, but if Link manages to defeat one, it will drop a Silver Horriblin horn, which has a base Fuse power of 32 – which makes it one of the strongest common monster parts in the game. Fusing this part with a one-handed weapon will make a Silver Horriblin Pounder, which deals some serious damage. After a certain amount of progress, Silver Horriblins become pretty easy to find, making this an easy go-to Fuse weapon.

6 Silver Moblin Hammer

Material Fuse Damage: 33

• Cobbie Crusher + Silver Moblin Horn

Like most common enemies, Moblins scale in difficulty depending on how many Link has defeated in his quest. Pretty soon, players will find they nearly always encounter Silver Moblins when traversing Hyrule. Luckily, these tall foes aren’t too tough to take down and drop a brilliant material for weapon fusions.

A Silver Moblin Horn has a fuse damage of 33, making it one of the strongest and easiest Silver enemy horns to obtain. Fusing a Silver Moblin Horn with any weapon, as usual, will add some serious damage. However, Moblin horns are dense and heavy so fusing them with a two-handed weapon can be the best choice. Boulder Breaker (38) or a Royal Guard’s Claymore (39) are perfect for fusing with a Silver Moblin Horn, and will easily let players deal upwards of 70 damage.

5 Silver Lizal Blade

Material Fuse Damage: 34

• Royal Claymore + Silver Lizalfos Horn

Although players can’t exactly buy them, these wicked-looking red and black horns will become a good friend to Link as the game progresses. Silver versions of enemies begin to spawn as players progress through the game, almost like an invisible experience bar. Completing side-quests and defeating lots of monsters should mean players will find a higher volume of silver (more difficult) enemies. The best part about this is that silver monster parts are far stronger than normal ones.

The Silver Lizalfos Horn has a base fuse damage of 34, and its relatively easy obtainment makes it one of the best fuse materials out there for high damage. Even when fused to some of the middling weapons in the game, like a broad sword or Moblin arm, this material will easily boost damage to 50+. When it comes to easily locatable, high-damage fusions, the Silver Lizalfos Horn is a must.

4 Silver Boss Boko Axe

Material Fuse Damage: 37

• Royal Broadsword + Silver Boss Bokoblin Horn

Occasionally, players will come across a marching band of Bokoblins being led by one very large, intimidating Bokoblin. This is a Boss Bokoblin, and these monsters are just as dangerous as they look. Boss Bokoblins aren’t particularly difficult to defeat, since they take damage the same way all Bokoblins do. The best method is to throw a Muddle Bud and let the horde take themselves down.

Like normal Bokoblins, Boss Bokoblins scale in difficulty and after a while, Silver Boss Bokoblins will begin to spawn. These nasty monsters will drop a Silver Boss Bokoblin Horn which has a fantastic 37 fuse damage. Fusing this to almost any weapon will immediately make it very strong, but since the material is heavy it’s useful for cracking open ore deposits or landing heavy hits. Fusing it with something like a Royal Broadsword (31 base damage) will make a very powerful weapon that will frighten even the most formidable foes.

3 Gibdo Bone Arrows

Material Fuse Damage: 40

Players who haven’t undertaken the Gerudo portion of Regional Phenomena will likely not have encountered Gibdos at all. These creepy foes will shamble toward players and are resistant to physical damage unless they have been hit by lightning or fire damage first. Although they might be a pain to take down, it is well worth it for the loot.

Gibdos usually drop a Gibdo Bone, which has a whopping 40 base damage. This makes them fantastic for dealing big damage quickly and efficiently, no matter what they’re fused to. The downside of Gibdo Bones is that they’re incredibly brittle, meaning they will shatter after one hit. Players are better off fusing them with arrows to deal a lot of damage to a more intimidating foe, or fusing them to a high-damage weapon like a Gloom Club to land one massive hit.

2 Gloom-Sword Spear

Material Fuse Damage: 41

• Gloom Spear + Gloom Sword

One of the perks of the Fuse ability is the option to Fuse two weapons together. This isn’t always worthwhile, since higher-damage materials often exist, and many players see it as a waste of a base weapon. However, there are a few strong weapons out there that will create a very strong super-weapon of sorts, and the Gloom-Sword Spear is one of them.

A rarer selection of damage dealers available in Tears of the Kingdom is the trio of Gloom-infected weapons carried by Phantom Ganon. These weapons will damage Link as he wields them, in exchange for some serious strength. When Link defeats a Phantom Ganon, which occasionally spawns after defeating Gloom Hands, it will drop one of three weapons: A Gloom Club, a Gloom Sword, and a Gloom Spear. Fusing a Gloom Spear with a Gloom Sword will result in a Gloom-Sword Spear, which has a whopping 81 attack damage. Players can experiment with their fusions based on which type of weapon they like to wield, and since Link will take damage for wielding a Gloom weapon, he might as well make the most of it.

1 Silver Lynel Blade

Material Fuse Damage: 55

• Royal Guard’s Claymore + Silver Lynel Saber Horn

Horns from the various Lynel types make for great melee fusions in Tears of the Kingdom. One of the most overpowered combinations that players can create is by using the Royal Guard’s Claymore from Hyrule Castle. Its base damage is 32, which doubles to 64 when it is badly damaged. In that state, it can be fused with the Silver Lynel Saber Horn to take the overall damage to 174.

The Silver Lynel Saber Horn can be obtained by farming drops from the Armored Lynel, the toughest of its kind. It is important to remember that the damage is increased only when the weapon is badly damaged, and players should thus remember to stop using it before it is fully gone. They can travel to NPC Pelison in Tarrey Town to have him take apart the fusion without destroying it. Then, they can fuse the components once again to get a refreshed set.
