How to Get Musical Instrument Proficiency in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 Volo With The Ersatz Eye

To play musical instruments properly in Baldur’s Gate 3, Musical Instrument Proficiency is very important. However, while there are only a few ways to obtain this Proficiency during your playthrough, you should have no problems adding it to at least one of your party members through one of the methods mentioned below.

  • By selecting the Bard Class, as they have natural Proficiency with Instruments. Even one level of Multiclassing into Bard will work to add this proficiency, so this is definitely the easiest method available.
  • By helping Alfira complete her song and playing alongside her. By selecting to take the spare Lute and help her with her song, you will receive Musical Instrument Proficiency once the song is complete and the encounter has concluded.
  • By selecting the Performer Feat, which provides Musical Instrument Proficiency as one of the perks.
