Carlos Sainz gives verdict on P3 in Miami qualifying: “Every lap is an adventure”

With Max Verstappen securing the pole position, the action-packed Saturday at the Miami International Autodrome comes to a close. After the Sprint Race held this afternoon, which was won by the Dutchman, the drivers returned to the track for the qualifying session. The Red Bull driver clinched his sixth consecutive pole position of the season, posting his best time at 1:27.241.

The Ferrari drivers did well with Charles Leclerc in second place (a tenth behind) preceding his teammate, Carlos Sainz. Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull took fourth, followed by the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

There was a slight improvement for Mercedes with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton taking seventh and eighth fastest times. Rounding out the top 10 were Nico Hulkenberg in the Haas and Yuki Tsunoda in the Racing Bulls.

“A bit of a shame about the Sprint, I couldn’t get past Daniel but I knew the pace was there. I knew with a clean Qualy I could be in the top three. We managed to do some clean laps. It’s really tricky around here with a new soft. Every lap is a bit of adventure. With the wind you don’t know what will happen. Keeping all that in mind, the laps were not too bad. You always finish the lap and think you could have gone so much faster, but it’s almost impossible to put a perfect clean lap around here.”
