Fallout 4: Crucible Quest Walkthrough

Quick Links

Bethesda’s Fallout series has been receiving a lot of love and new players since the release of the Fallout TV show on Amazon. The game Fallout 4 is no exception and has received a ton of things since the show’s release.

One thing the game saw after the release of the TV show was the next-gen update, which allowed the game to be played on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with better graphics and additional content. The quest “Crucible” was one of the additional quests this update added, and it allows the player to obtain the weapon “Heavy Incinerator;” here’s how to get it.

How To Start The Crucible Quest

Fallout 4 - Crucible Quest

In order to start this quest, players must ensure that they have the next-gen update downloaded. If not, they can only start the quest if they purchase it through the Creation Club. Since it is free through the upgrade, it is definitely recommended to go that route. Once players get on the game after downloading the update, they will automatically obtain the quest in their quest log. If it isn’t there, they may need to level up more before getting it (it seems it should show up by level 10). Once it is in the quest log, it can be completed.

The Crucible Walkthrough

Fallout 4 - Saugnus Ironworks

Once the quest is started, players need to head to Saugus Ironworks, which is located northwest of Croup Manor or southwest of Salem. Once there, they will be in an ambush and need to kill several enemies around the area. Then, they will need to enter the building and fight the enemies inside. After they are taken care of, use the walkway to walk to the next room, where the body of the Forged Keeper is.

The Forged Keeper has a note on him mentioning the Heavy Incinerator and how they put it inside a giant crucible as a test, and one of the recruits cheated on the test. Upstairs, players will find a red toolbox that has an expert lock. After picking the lock, there will be a note from the Forged Recruit, which will tell the player how the recruit cheated. He had planned on using a set of Power Armor to walk through the flames of the crucible and grab the weapon for himself. In order to do this, he hid some Power Armor pieces (unfortunately, they aren’t the best in the game) under a nearby crucible, but the player will need to move it.

The note mentions needing to turn off the molten metal flow before being able to move the crucible that is covering the Power Armor pieces. Then, the player will need to access the terminal on the second floor to move the crucible. Remember, if it doesn’t give the option to move it, that means the button to turn off the molten metal flow wasn’t pressed. Once the crucible is moved, the player will find the buried mound that holds the pieces.
