The game follows the players as they design and create their own Vault. Being in charge of a Vault can be hard work, so players will want to know the ins and outs of running their Vaults before they get too far along in the game.

Since the game allows players to design their Vaults and create them the way they want, players won’t be shocked to learn that they can also decide which Vault Dwellers they want. Maximum Number Of Vault Dwellers, Explained

Fallout Shelter - Number of Dwellers

The game offers an endless supply of Vault Dwellers for recruitment, meaning players will probably want to kick out some occasionally to make way for new recruits. The more Living Quarters players add to their Vault, the more Dwellers the Vault can hold. One Living Quarters room can hold up to 8 Vault Dwellers, and that number only increases depending on the upgrade rank of the room and how many Living Quarters have been built beside each other.

However, no matter how many rooms there are, the maximum number of Vault Dwellers that a single Vault can hold is 200 (unless mods are downloaded to increase this number). Once players hit that number, they will need to start deciding who they want to evict in order to add new members to their ranks. Players can see how many Dwellers are currently in their Vault by looking at the number within the gear icon in the top left-hand corner of the game (the same icon highlighted by a red box in the picture above).

Fallout Shelter can really put your skills to the test. Here’s a look at some tips and tactics to help your vault colony survive.

Vault Dweller Eviction Process, Explained

Evicting Dwellers is much easier than it might initially seem. To evict them, players will pick up the Dweller they want to kick out and drag it outside the Vault (just like they’d do if they wanted to send the Dweller off to explore the Wasteland). Once that is done, select the Dweller again and click on the red button with a gear icon marked out on it (this is highlighted by the red box in the picture above).

Once selected, the game will ask if the player is sure that they want to evict the Dweller. After selecting yes, the Dweller will be sent off into the Wasteland, freeing up some space in the Vault. Do not worry about removing items from them, as the game will automatically do that once they have been evicted.
