Ways to Improve Your Aim in Apex Legends

There are multiple ways to improve your aim in Apex Legends. The options range from tweaking mouse settings to using third-party software. However, a combination of all these practices yields the best result.

Mouse settings

Improving aim in first-person shooters isn’t all about practice. You also need a proper mouse setting that is comfortable to play with.

  • Head to the Mouse/ Keyboard setting and disable Mouse Acceleration.
  • Select the ideal Mouse Sensitivity.
  • Tweak the ADS Mouse Sensitivity for the respective scopes.
  • Switch on the Clamp Mouse Cursor to Game Window (necessary for double monitor setups).

Stick to a low DPI, as it helps with the micro-adjustments during the gun fight. Having a custom per-optic sensitivity is also beneficial since every scope has a different field of view that can influence your aim.

Firing Range

Season 17 of Apex Legends saw a massive Firing Range overhaul, which transformed the arena into an extensive training ground consisting of dynamic training dummies. They are a perfect recipe for a drill that can sharpen your in-game accuracy and precision.

For starters, grab a weapon and load it up with attachments after entering the Firing Range. Then, head to one of the buildings and spawn some shooting dummies. The option is available under Customize Range from the pause menu.

Make sure to tweak the following settings before getting into practice:

Customize Range settings Description Recommended option
Infinite Ammo Reloads When ON, you can reload indefinitely. On
Shield Level Controls what tier of shield Dummies spawn with. Mythic
Dummie Helmets Match Shield Levels When ON, Dummies’ Helmet Levels will match Shield Levels. Otherwise, Dummy Helmets default to the Common Level. On
Movement Controls how Dummies Move. Strafe (Random)
Move Seed Controls how fast dummies will walk or run. Run
Dynamic Spawn Distance Controls how far away Dummies can spawn. Either Close or Mid Range

Once the dummies have spawned in the arena, gun them down, keeping the aim as close to their heads as possible. Get used to the shooting mechanics of Apex Legends before moving on to the armory.

The armory section of the Firing Range has multiple targets scattered in different directions and elevations. By standing at the center, shoot the marked boxes at random. The goal here is to hit the center, which counts as a headshot. Strafe between each shot and utilize the whole section to master target-switching aim.

Aimlabs

For a more hard-core practice regime, Aimlabs is a better alternative to the Firing Range. It is available on Steam, and there is an Apex Legends profile under settings to insert your in-game camera sensitivity.

Once everything is set up, launch the following drills, where the target should be to secure the maximum score within the time limit:

  • Sideclick
  • Waveshot Advanced
  • Suavetrack Advanced
  • Pilltrack Advanced
  • Headshot Mid Range

These challenges have been curated to steadily improve every aspect of aiming in video games. For instance, Sideclick is perfect for training flicks, while Suavetrack Advanced yields tracking accuracy. With consistent effort, your aim is bound to be refined in Apex Legends.
