Stardew Valley: How to Get Cave Carrot

Quick Links

A habit that you’ll want to get into while playing Stardew Valley is to forage anything you see. Materials gathered from the wild can be used to craft devices that will greatly improve your life on the farm. You’ll also need various items for side quests, and one of these is the Cave Carrot.

The Cave Carrot isn’t something that can be grown on the farm. You must brave the depths of the Mines in Pelican Town to look for one. Cave Carrots can restore some health and energy if you’re in a pinch, but you may want to keep them in your bag.

Stardew Valley: Everything You Need To Know About The Mines

Mines add a different element to Stardew Valley’s gameplay. With so much to know about the underground caverns, these stand out as the most important.

Where to Find Cave Carrots

Under Dirt and Crates

You can get Cave Carrots in the mines by using the Farming Hoe or breaking crates. As you descend, you’ll occasionally spawn on a floor with patches of dirt (Floors 1-30) similar to the dirt you use for planting crops. If you use the farming hoe on the dirt in the MInes, you’ll occasionally dig up items. You can get Clay or even Artifacts for the Museum, but you could also dig up a Cave Carrot.

If you’re on the “Frozen Earth” floors (Floors 40-70), you may see white crates. These can be broken by using your weapon. They’ll sometimes drop a Cave Carrot, but you may also get special Fertilizers or Mixed Seeds.

Crates also spawn on Floors 1-30 and Floors 80+.

Where to Use Cave Carrots

Foraging Bundle & Side Quests

Cave Carrots are used for the following:

If you’re trying to complete the Community Center in Pelican Town, then you’ll want to put aside a Cave Carrot. You’ll need five items for the Exotic Foraging Bundle (located in the Crafts Room), and Cave Carrot is one of the nine items that you can offer. Since Cave Carrots are common, it’s recommended to use one for this particular Bundle.

If you manage to get 3 Friendship Hearts with Marnie, you’ll receive a letter from her in the mail. This formally starts “Marnie’s Request,” which has no deadline, so you can take as long as you need to complete it. Doing so will add 100 Friendship Points towards Marnie. Make sure the Cave Carrot is in your inventory, then visit Marnie’s Ranch (south of your farm) when she’s there. Like every other NPC in Stardew Valley, Marnie has her own schedule, so you’ll want to drop by within visiting hours.
