What to Expect From the Persona Franchise in 2024

The Persona series had a solid year in 2023, with games like Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden coming to modern consoles to start the year, and Persona 5 Tactica releasing to cap the year off. While the year was light on new mainline games, it did also include the reveal of Persona 3 Reload at the Xbox games Showcase in Summer 2023. While these releases and reveals were great for Persona fans in 2023, next year is looking even better with the series in position for some big launches and possibly even bigger announcements.

Atlus has been pretty consistent with Persona releases over the years, with nearly every year since the release of Persona 3 containing a new game. It appears that 2024 will continue this trend with Persona 3 Reload slated for release early in the year, but there are other titles fans could see pop up as the year goes on. Developed by Black Wings Game Studio with official authorization from Sega and Atlus, Persona 5: The Phantom X is a mobile spin-off of Persona 5 that follows a similar gameplay loop with a new story. The game takes place in the same world as Persona 5 with players able to visit familiar locations like Shibuya and Yongen-Jaya, but features a new protagonist and playable party members. So far, Persona 5: The Phantom X has only been available for beta test periods in China, but there is a possibility that it will see a global release announcement sometime in 2024.

The Rumored Persona “ASA” Game

Another spin-off game that is rumored to be in development is a new Persona game code-named “ASA,” supposedly targeting a Q3 2024 release date. Persona ASA is said to be a party game similar to something like Mario Party but featuring a cast of characters from across the Persona series.
