While it hasn’t always been plain sailing for Mob Entertainment’s Poppy Playtime franchise, there could be exciting times ahead. The company recently made its new Catnap plushie available for pre-order, and many fans are eagerly awaiting more details about Chapter 4 and its new villain. Things are also looking exciting for Mob Entertainment overall as a company with a transmedia approach and a desire to do things differently.

In a recent interview, Game Rant spoke with Mob Entertainment’s CEO and Co-Founder, Zach Belanger about what players can expect from games/” rel=”nofollow”>Poppy Playtime Chapter 4. Belanger also talked about the company’s plans more generally, including more horror IPs and more.

When asked about what players can expect from Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, Belanger teased more about the new villain, which sounds very promising for fans of the episodic horror game:

The new villain for Chapter 4 is the one Seth and I have been most excited about for quite some time. It will be a fan favorite and the design takes every unique advantage of being a

toy monster, from the material choice to the animation. Beyond that, fans can expect the highest quality, most stable, most optimized, and the best user experience of any of our games yet. We have done a lot of work to bring top talent into Mob, and the results of bringing in that talent are only just starting to take shape.

Given that many of the franchise’s toys can already be considered some of the scariest monsters in gaming, Belanger’s comments suggest that the next Poppy Playtime Chapter will take the franchise to a whole new level in terms of scares. This also bodes well given Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 was much longer than its predecessors, with some players claiming that Catnap is the series’ scariest villain. While there is currently no official release date for Chapter 4, some players have even been creating fan-made trailers to speculate about it, indicating that there is plenty of hype for the game.

When asked if he and his brother, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Seth Belanger, always knew they wanted to do a horror game, Belanger confirmed games/” rel=”nofollow”>horror games were always the plan. Belanger added Poppy Playtime emerged as the “brainchild that evolved during pre-production and production” of the development learning process, but long thought horror would be their first gaming venture. Excitingly, Belanger also talked about how Poppy Playtime is only the beginning:

Belanger added he is “very optimistic” about the company’s future, how he and Seth aren’t afraid “to do things differently and unorthodox (to some degree)”, and how they now consider it “a transmedia company”. As Belanger explained:

. We’ve also created a Direct to Consumer and Licensing department. You can find all sorts of

merchandise on our website and in your favorite store. As we keep growing into new forms of media, the company and our audience will grow with it. As new media avenues and opportunities continue to emerge, our company will grow and evolve with it.

Many may consider Poppy Playtime as having the potential to be a great games-would-make-great-movies/” rel=”nofollow”>video game movie, and a Poppy Playtime movie was indeed announced by the company back in 2022. While Belanger didn’t discuss this, it sounds like fans of the series could have a lot to look forward to overall.
